Since the turn of the 19th century, dog breeding has become common practice throughout the North West and beyond. Traditionally, artificial insemination has been rarely used – but, in the modern age, your pooch may need a little help breeding!
There’s no shame in helping your dog along in your journey for perfectly bred pups, and the process is astoundingly simple. By definition, artificial insemination for dogs involves the injection of semen into the uterus of your chosen female. Rather than risk the rejection of a prospective mate and the damage this can bring to both your female and the stud dog – remove potential aggression and discontent from the situation entirely.
Inseminating your dog relies on your female coming into season. This is the best time to broach the subject of a new litter and, as soon as the first day of season hits, it’s best to artificially inseminate right away. As soon as you notice bleeding or discharge, get in touch.
But…what if your chosen female is suffering a ‘dry’ or ‘silent’ season? We’d recommend keeping a close eye on her usual cycle – this way, even if the female is asymptomatic when it comes to her heat – our artificial insemination still has a high chance of success.
